Primary 4 – Maths: Multiplication Market

Primary 4 students recently learnt multiplication in a fun and creative way through an activity called the Multiplication Market. This special lesson helped them see how math is not just numbers on a page, but something we use every day.

In the Multiplication Market, students took turns acting out as sellers and buyers. Sellers displayed items with prices, while buyers selected what they wanted to purchase. The fun twist was that every transaction required multiplication, students had to calculate the total cost of multiple items before completing their shopping.

This activity gave students a chance to apply multiplication in a real-life problem. They weren’t just memorizing facts, they were practicing how multiplication helps in everyday life, from buying groceries to budgeting. The lively role play made math meaningful and memorable.

The Multiplication Market showed students how useful multiplication is in daily life. It helps us when we buy things, plan our spending, and make smart choices. Through this activity, our learners discovered that math can be practical, fun, and meaningful.
