Primary 4 – IPC: Making a Circle of Friendship

In this IPC lesson for Term 3, P4 students have been learning about friendship. P4 students learnt about what friendship is, how to keep the relationship going well, and also what to do if there is a problem.

The teacher explained the lesson with examples and storytelling of the teachers’ experience about friendship. The students then asked to respond to the teacher’s story. Next, P4 students were asked to tell stories about their experiences in friendship. They were also challenged to tell how they solve the problems they faced about friendship. Then, they made a circle of relationship by writing about the closest one like family to the furthest circle, which were the strangers. From that, they can see people who are close with them. The teacher connected it to explain things that they can or cannot share with the people.

By learning about friendship, P4 students will be able to increase their respect for each other. They will also learn and practice how to maintain a friendship and relationship with people around them. P4 students will also get knowledge about problem solving which involves other people. They can also understand how to have positive interaction with other people around them.

Trust and openness are needed in a friendship relationship. When a problem arises in a friendship, openness and sincerity to apologize and forgive can help solve the problem. With this exposure, P4 students will find it easier to maintain relationships and solve a problem dealing with it. By studying this material, the students will have a good understanding in maintaining their friendships and also, they can use the knowledge and experience to solve any problem they have with their friends in the future independently.
