Primary 4: International Day Activities

Primary 4 students had a very exciting activity during International Day. During the activity, students also wore Mexican and Spanish traditional clothes. This made the learning experience more exciting and meaningful for them. Students looked happy and proud while wearing the costumes. They began the lesson by watching a video about Mexico and Spain. The video showed important information about the two countries. Students learned about the flags, cultures, and some famous places. They watched the video carefully and listened to the explanation. Many students felt curious because this topic was new for them. They were happy to learn about different countries in the world, the country that is related with their classroom’s name.

After watching the video, the students gathered in groups to continue the activity. Each group worked on a different topic that they had already searched before. Group 1 presented general information such as the location, flag, capital city, and language. Group 2 explored the geography of Mexico and Spain. Group 3 learned about culture and traditions. Group 4 talked about famous places, while Group 5 explained traditional food. Group 6 shared information about famous people from the two countries.

Each group then created a craft and an infographic based on their topic. They discussed ideas and decided how to show the information clearly. Students worked together to design colorful and interesting infographics. They also prepared crafts that represented their topic. During the activity, students helped each other and shared their ideas. They practiced explaining the information so others could understand it. This activity helped students think carefully about the information they learned.

They enjoyed every stage of the learning process, beginning with exploration as they gathered information about different countries, followed by collaborating with their groups to develop and organise their ideas. During this process, students engaged in discussions, shared their understanding, and respected one another’s opinions. At the final stage, they confidently presented their work in front of the class while also learning from other groups. Through this activity, the class was able to see how culture, geography, and traditions differ in each country, and students realised that learning about other countries is both interesting and important. Overall, Primary 4 students were very enthusiastic and happy to take part in this new and enjoyable International Day activity.
