In the Pitstop Reading Program Phase 2, students recalled the books they have read throughout the program. They identified the book titles, characters, and basic story elements through the book reviews they have created. The teacher appreciated students’ effort and participation in the reading activities.
Students demonstrated their understanding by writing their book reviews, such as retelling the storyline and explaining why they like the book. They also observed their classmates’ displayed work and compared differences in content, presentation style, and ideas. This activity helped students understand that there are various ways to respond to a text.
Students independently reflected on their reading and book review writing process. They became aware of how they selected important information from the story and expressed it in writing. They also began to recognize which parts of their work were strong and which areas can be improved.
They began to understand the benefits of reading and writing book reviews in developing deeper comprehension. Through this activity, students are motivated to continue reading, express their understanding, and set reading goals for the next phase.
