After an exciting outing to the Dinas Perhubungan (Dishub), Primary 2 students applied what they learned by creating traffic safety models in groups. Using simple materials like styrofoam boards, popsicle sticks, and traffic sign images, they built mini scenes that included zebra crossings, vehicles, trees, buildings, and pedestrians.
As they worked, students reinforced their understanding of 2D and 3D shapes by identifying these shapes in everyday objects. They also learned the meanings of key traffic signs, including “no parking,” “zebra crossing,” “stop,” and traffic lights. This activity wasn’t just about creativity—it emphasized the importance of traffic rules and safe road-crossing techniques, especially the “4T” method: tunggu sebentar (wait a moment), tengok kanan (look right), tengok kiri (look left), and tengok kanan lagi (look right again).
To conclude, each group presented their models to other classes, sharing their newfound knowledge and encouraging everyone to stay safe on the road. The project was a fun and meaningful way to blend creativity with practical life skills. ***
