On Thursday, July 24th 2025, our new Primary 1 students participated in a very special event to celebrate their successful move from Early Years to Primary School. At the beginning, each student made their own personalized sash using colorful paper, stickers, and markers.
During the welcoming ceremony, each student was called to the front by name. Their classmates clapped and cheered to show support and friendship. With pride, they wore their handmade sashes and greeted their teachers with a handshake or a high five.
Afterwards, the teachers introduced our FIS anthem. They also had a joyful “Gummy Bear” dance for celebrating the start of their Primary journey. They followed instructions, moved together to the rhythm, and showed excitement as they sang and danced with their new classmates.
This activity was more than just a celebration, it helped students reflect on their learning journey. They were guided to think about how their achievements in Early Years prepared them for Primary, and what it means to be a responsible and respectful Primary 1 student.
By designing their own sashes and participating in the ceremony, students practiced independence, confidence, and expression. The experience helped build classroom identity and emotional connection with peers and teachers. This was not only a day of music, movement, and creativity, but a day of memory-making and meaning. Our Primary 1 learners showed they are ready for new challenges with open hearts and smiling faces. With the school anthem in the air and a sash on their shoulders, they are officially part of our school family! ***
