Nursery – Maths: Flying on An Aeroplane

Nursery students continued their exploration of aeroplanes through an engaging learning experience. They began with a simple discussion, sharing their personal experiences with aeroplanes. This was followed by watching an informative video that introduced them to the procedures at the airport and inside an aeroplane. To bring their learning to life, the students participated in a pretend play activity, acting as passengers and following the steps they had observed.

The role-play started at the check-in counter, where they received boarding passes that showed their seat numbers. Next, they passed through a security check and boarded the aerplane, finding their seats based on the numbers on their boarding passes. This hands-on activity not only helped students learn to follow rules and practice discipline but also enhanced their number recognition and critical thinking skills as they matched their seat numbers.

Overall, this activity was designed to develop students’ social skills, confidence, and communication abilities. By simulating a real-life situation, the students were able to make sense of the airport experience in a fun and meaningful way. Further, it will be beneficial for them as they can apply the knowledge and connect it to their experience when they travel by aeroplane next time. ***
