Early Year 2 – Science: Exploration on Recycle Paper

EY2 students were introduced to the concept of recycling paper through a simple hands-on experiment. To begin the session, the teachers divided the class into four groups, with each group consisting of five students. Every group received some used paper and an empty bottle as their main tools. The first task was to tear the paper into small pieces and place them inside the bottle. Afterwards, the teachers guided the students to pour water into the bottle and shook it off. This process helped them observe how papers break apart.

Once the mixture was ready, the teachers guided the students to filter the water, leaving behind the pulp of paper. The pulp was then placed under sunlight to dry, giving the students clearer understanding of how recycled paper can be created from waste materials.

Through this activity, Students did not only explore a scientific process but also developed teamwork and problem-solving skills. They learned that recycling helps reduce waste and saves natural resources. This meaningful experiment helped them to think critically about sustainability and how small actions can contribute to a cleaner environment. ***
