EY2 students explored the fascinating transformation of butterflies by learning about their life cycle, which begins as tiny eggs, continues as growing caterpillars, then moves into the cocoon stage, and finally ends with the emergence of beautiful butterflies.
To deepen their understanding, the children created artistic models of each stage using colourful wax paper. They crumpled and shaped the paper to represent the unique forms of the egg, caterpillar, cocoon, and butterfly.
Throughout the process, students shared their ideas, compared the different stages, and engaged in meaningful discussions about how living things change and grow over time, just like butterflies. Some students even reflected on how they themselves have grown, making thoughtful connections between their personal experiences and the natural world.
This hands-on activity not only enriched their science learning but also supported the development of fine motor skills, creativity, language, and critical thinking. It was truly a joyful experience that combined art, science, and reflection in a meaningful way! ***
