Early Year 2 – Entry Point: Party Planer

Entering the new theme ‘Let’s Party’ EY2 students participated in a fun entry point activity: ‘Party Planner’, a combination of two subjects, English and Maths. In English, students read simple sentences to guess who is having a birthday. Then they work together as party planners to create a surprise party. They interviewed the teacher by asking questions such as whether she wanted a birthday cake, what food and drinks she wanted to have on her birthday, what about balloons, whether she wanted big or small, whether she wanted one colour or many colours. Before they prepare for the celebration, they solve simple maths story problems first. They enthusiastically solved it to find the right amount for each of the birthday supplies they used. Once everything was ready, they invited their teacher and asked her to check the amount of each item. Then, EY2 students sang a birthday song and took a photo with their teacher happily. A fun exit point is an asset for students to be curious throughout the theme. In this ‘Let’s Party’ theme, EY2 students will learn about some international celebrations such as Earth Day, Olympics, etc. EY2 students learn to know the reasons for the celebrations and are stimulated in their awareness as part of the global citizens. ***
