Early Year 2 – English: Sound Exploration

EY2 students engaged in a meaningful sound exploration activity that stimulated their senses, thinking skills, and environmental awareness. Guided by the teacher, they walked to the playground and the front area of the school, using their auditory skills to identify various sounds such as chirping birds, rustling leaves, honking cars, and the chatter of people.

Back in the classroom, students recalled and shared the sounds they had heard. Together, they explored whether each sound was made by nature or by humans. This discussion encouraged observation, reasoning, and a deeper understanding of their surroundings while also strengthening naturalist intelligence and critical thinking.

The learning continued with a fun and engaging guessing game. Students listened to recorded sounds and tried to identify them. This playful challenge helped develop focus, problem-solving abilities, and communication skills while also promoting social interaction and teamwork.

Through this rich and multi-sensory experience, students strengthened not only their listening and language abilities but also their creativity, curiosity, and appreciation for the sounds that fill the world around them. ***
