In a recent activity, EY2 students explored wind and wind chimes. After discussing about the wind, the teacher showed videos and pictures to introduce wind chimes. Students then worked in groups to create their own chimes using materials like bottle caps, cut straws, buttons, and plastic cups, combining learning with creativity.
Each group threaded bottle caps, buttons, and straws onto strings, experimenting with colours and patterns. Once the garland was complete, they attached it to the plastic cup with tape. To personalize their chimes, students designed pictures related to wind or nature, cut them out, and glued them onto the cup. Finally, a string was added to hang the chimes. The students were excited about their creations and eager to make similar projects at home.
This activity provided many benefits for the students. It encouraged teamwork, as they collaborated to design and assemble the wind chimes. It also promoted creativity and problem-solving skills, as they experimented with different materials and designs. Additionally, the hands-on experience helped them connect with the natural world, fostering curiosity about wind and sound. Overall, it was a fun and educational activity that combined learning and creativity!
