Early Year 1 – Science: Melting Ice Experiment

EY1 students recently conducted an experiment to observe how ice melts, connecting their learning to the polar habitat. They discovered that, in today’s world, parts of the polar regions are melting at an alarming rate, posing a serious threat to the animals and ecosystems there. During the experiment, students carefully observed the melting process and developed their critical thinking skills by identifying that warm water causes ice to melt faster.

This hands-on activity not only deepened their understanding of the science behind melting ice but also introduced them to the issue of global warming. The experiment encouraged students to reflect on how climate change is affecting the planet and what actions they can take, even at a young age, to help slow it down. It was an important first step in fostering environmental awareness and responsibility. ***
