EY1 students participated in their LEAPRO project, “Nature’s Growth Story,” where they explored how plants grow and what they need to thrive. Students shared observations of the plants they had been growing and discussed the different stages of plant growth. They watched stories and videos, observed real plants and seeds, asked questions, and compared plants that grew well with those that did not receive enough sunlight and water.
Throughout the project, students created their own plant growth stories by choosing whether their seed would become a flower, fruit, or vegetable. They drew each stage of plant growth, from seed to mature plant, coloured their work neatly, and practised writing the stages. Students reflected on their learning, reviewed their work, and practised presenting their projects confidently.
During the LEAPRO Launch, students proudly presented their Nature’s Growth Story projects to the P1 students. They enthusiastically explained the stages of plant growth, shared what they had learned throughout the project, and confidently answered questions from the audience. It was wonderful to see students communicate their ideas and showcase their understanding with confidence.
This project helped students develop observation, questioning, communication, creativity, early writing, and presentation skills while building a deeper understanding of plant life cycles and the conditions plants need to grow.
