To conclude the Weather Wonders theme, the EY1 students conducted a field trip to Badan Penanggulangan Bencana Daerah Surakarta. The students were so excited to confirm and extend their knowledge about the weather.
They were given a chance to recall their memory about types of weather and how extreme weather can cause some natural disasters such as floods, storms, etc. Students were also given the opportunity to practise flood and earthquake safety tips such as moving away from the water, taking cover under a sturdy table/bed, finding an open area, etc.
The students were also thrilled to experience a boat, truck and ambulance ride as if they were being rescued by the BPBD team. Last but not least, they seemed to enjoy playing with water coming out of a hose. This activity is designed to help the students become more aware of extreme weather and how to respond to such situations. ***
