To enter the new theme “Dinosaurs Detective”, EY1 students joined an exciting activity to find the dinosaur’s egg. They were asked to follow the footprints scattered throughout the school area until they found the footprints which led them to a place where the dinosaur eggs were located. They were so excited to see the big-sized egg and so curious to find out what’s inside the egg. Students also engaged well in the discussion session about dinosaurs. They were able to share their ideas and knowledge they have known since they had already got the prior knowledge from the home-link learning activity they had done before.
Role-playing activities, like pretending to find a dinosaur egg, are crucial for kindergarten students because they promote imagination, creativity, and teamwork. When students engage in such pretend play, they learn to explore different scenarios, solve problems, and express their thoughts and ideas. This activity also helps them develop social skills as they collaborate with others, take on different roles, and practice communication. Moreover, pretending to discover a dinosaur egg can spark curiosity about the natural world and encourage an interest in science, while allowing kids to have fun and learn in an interactive, hands-on way.
