Early Year 1 – English: Planting Seeds

EY1 students continued exploring the Getting to Know Plants theme through a hands-on seed planting activity. They began by reviewing the story of Little Seed and discussing what plants need to grow, such as soil, water, and sunlight. Students were then introduced to the thematic sight words seed, plant, soil, water, and sun, and practised reading them together with the teachers.

After that, students chose vegetable seeds and planted them by following simple steps, such as sowing the seeds into the soil and watering them carefully. They also started learning how to care for their plants by watering them and observing how they will grow over time.

Through this activity, students developed their language and early reading skills, practised following instructions, strengthened fine motor coordination, and built responsibility through caring for living things.
