Baby Class – Fine Motor: Macaroni play

The babies showed their curiosity when the teacher showed them a tray full of macaroni. They touched and explored it. They could feel the texture of the macaroni and they got auditory stimulation from the sound the macaroni made. At first, they had to transfer the macaroni into the bottle by pinching it.

When all of them could do this well, they were asked to use the spoon to transfer the macaroni. The transfer activity was beneficial for them to develop their eye-hand coordination, fine motor skills, and concentration. It also prepared them for later self-feeding. ***
