On Saturday, 27 July 2023, Kirana Larasati Kartiko from Secondary 3 joined SMECOMP, an English competition held by SMA 3 Surakarta. The competition was conducted in SMA 3 Surakarta.
She joined the speech contest and managed to go to the final round. There were six students taken in the final round. In the final round, the participants were given 30 minutes to prepare their speeches. The topic for the final round was ‘Love Yourself’ which was given on the spot. They were not allowed to search for any references and no assistance from gadgets as well. Furthermore, they were also not allowed to read the script when giving the speech.
Through her great effort and performance, Laras finally became the first winner of the competition. The speech competition was a means of promoting confidence, and critical thinking and broadening participants’ horizons for opportunities. Congratulations, Laras! ***
