Secondary – English: Collaborative Lesson

In English, Secondary 2 students have been learning how to share their thoughts, while Secondary 3 students have been focused on expressing their opinions. To build on these skills, a collaborative lesson was organized for the two classes, centered on creating a persuasive speech. The topics chosen were “the dangers of cyberspace for teenagers” and “the best ways to express feelings.”

The collaboration took place over two sessions. In the first session, Secondary 3 students took on the role of mentors, guiding Secondary 2 students through the process of crafting a persuasive speech—from developing a script to practicing delivery. As preparation, the Secondary 3 students had previously studied effective speech techniques and analyzed speeches from award-winning competitions.

In the second session, the Secondary 2 students presented their speeches in front of the Secondary 3 students, who then provided individual feedback on both content and delivery. All activities were conducted under the teacher’s supervision to ensure a supportive learning environment.

This collaborative lesson was a success, allowing students to learn not only from their teacher but also from their peers. Both classes gained valuable experience in public speaking and persuasive communication, enhancing their skills through hands-on practice and constructive feedback.***
