Secondary 3 – English Debate Day: A Showcase of Critical Thinking and Confidence

Friday, 14 November 2025 marked an exciting day for Secondary 3 students as they took part in the much-anticipated Class Debate Day. After weeks of research and preparation, the students eagerly stepped forward, ready to present their ideas and engage in thoughtful discussion.

The debate consisted of two sessions, each lasting around 30–40 minutes. Both the proposition and opposition teams presented their arguments within a set time. The first speaker from each team opened the debate by presenting their case, supported with clear reasons and evidence. Subsequent speakers followed by responding to and refuting the opposing team’s points, demonstrating sharp reasoning and teamwork. Each session concluded with a closing summary from both sides, after which the audience cast their votes for the most convincing team.

The event not only boosted the students’ confidence but also strengthened their critical thinking and communication skills. Most importantly, the experience taught them to respect differing viewpoints—a valuable lesson for both academic and personal growth.
