Three weeks after conducting their Chemistry experiment on soap making, students proudly launched their handmade soap products, showcasing the results of their hard work and scientific exploration. This project not only emphasized scientific concepts but also connected their learning to broader environmental and sustainability goals.
To complement their soap launch, students created campaign posters aimed at promoting responsible production methods. Their posters highlighted the importance of reducing waste, recycling materials, and protecting aquatic ecosystems—key reflections from their soap-making experiment. Students used these campaigns as a platform to share their understanding of how simple actions, like repurposing used cooking oil into soap, can contribute to environmental preservation.
The soap products and posters were presented in front of Secondary Leaders, giving students the opportunity to communicate their ideas effectively and advocate for sustainable practices. This presentation helped them hone their public speaking and persuasive communication skills while inspiring their audience to take part in sustainability initiatives.
Through this project, students gained practical skills in recycling and product creation, developed a deeper understanding of sustainability, and recognized the importance of reducing environmental impact. The activity encouraged critical thinking and creativity, as students reflected on how waste materials can be transformed into valuable products. More importantly, it raised their awareness of how their individual and collective actions can contribute to preserving the environment. ***
