Secondary 1 – Visual Arts: Sketch From a Real Object

Secondary 1 students continued learning the material about Realism artworks. They learnt about sketching by looking at the real objects they found around them. They followed some steps in working the realism drawing, such as: observation, sketching, object forming, putting details and finishing. For the activities, the students followed the steps explained by the teacher. For the initial steps, they were asked to explore Secondary environment and choose one object to be sketched.

Next, they continued to work on the details in the classroom. They enthusiastically searched for the object and sketched them thoroughly with various result. For the finishing, the students were allowed to choose one of the colouring media, whether using coloured pencils or shading with 2B pencils. It was also the time for students to evaluate and make revision to make their work better,The whole activities are meant to boost students’ curiosity upon the object they consider as their preferences.

It also part of stimulation on how students practice to see the details of everything around them. Students act as independent learners implementing the knowledge they have learnt inside the classroom and experiencing the activities by themselves. ***
