Secondary 1 students took their physics lesson on sound waves to the next level with hands-on demonstrations using guitar and ukulele. The students creatively explored the principles of sound production and pitch variation through these exciting activities:
- Creating Low to High Sounds: By adjusting the tension and length of the strings, students showcased how pitch changes from low to high on both the guitar and ukulele.
- Playing Basic Notes on Different Strings: Groups experimented with different strings to produce distinct notes, highlighting the effect of string thickness and length on sound.
- Exploring Pitch Variation on a Single String: Students manipulated a single string, observing how finger placement alters pitch and produces a range of tones.
After completing the demonstrations, each group worked collaboratively to compile their findings and observations in a detailed experiment report. This activity not only deepened their understanding of sound waves but also fostered teamwork and critical analysis.
