Early Year 2 – English & Arts: This is My Shop

EY2 students enthusiastically joined integrated English and Art lesson. The lesson began by teacher showing examples of simple shop drawings featuring everyday items such as bread, books, clothes, and fruits. Next, students followed the step of drawing the shop building, including shelves and a signboard using pencil and colour pencils and also their paper puppet. Students had chance to decorate freely creating small items—like a red apple or a blue book  onto their artwork. This part promoted students’ creativity, fine motor skills, and spatial awareness.

Once it is completed, students named their shops and practice short sentences in English such as, “This is my bakery” or “I sell fruits.” At the end of the activity, the could have a role-play with their shop puppets with friends to strengthen their speaking confidence, imagination, and collaboration with peers. Through this activity, students not only express artistic ideas but also deepen their language comprehension and communication skills. ***
