What makes FIS Secondary different from other Secondary School ?
FIS Secondary applies the national curriculum as the guideline of the learning process. Yet, the learning material is taken from many sources like Cambridge and others. Besides, International Middle Years Curriculum (IMYC) is also applied in the school. IMYC is the continuation curriculum from IPC in Primary in order to prepare for students to be ready as a global citizen.
English is used as the classroom language when teaching; except for Bahasa Indonesia, PKn, IPS, Agama. Besides, English is also used as the main language used for communication among students, teachers, and between student and teacher.
The learning process at school is dominated by IT based learning. Instead of using physical books, students use e-books and personal laptop for their learning activity. School is provided with content management system software in which students can download their e-books. Students are also provided with school personal email account for them to communicate with teachers in order to submit or receive assignments. Information from school will also be shared through email to parents.
There is a special program to build students green living style. The program is expected to make the students becoming more aware in environmental issues. To support this program, Secondary students will have an outdoor class called “Kelas Alam” in Tawangmangu once a month.
All students will have to join a compulsory extracurricular. The extracurricular has distinctive targets that students must achieve by the end of the period. To achieve the target, school affiliates with another institution.
